Special Community Support Drive Feature: Elena’s Backyard Wish
Rick’s is so proud to announce the completion of our 3rd partnership with Make-A-Wish! Elena and her family wished for a safe backyard where she could visit all her bug friends and still see the beautiful green space behind them.
With the help of our supplier DSI, Rick’s was able to provide a beautiful Aluminum Fence that will be a safe and low maintenance addition to this space for Elena and her family for years to come!

2022 Rick’s Community Support Drive Highlights
Here’s a look at some of the amazing projects that Rick’s made happen this year for our community. Over $100,000 in total donations and almost 300 hours volunteered!
Sparrow Club Sponsorship
Our new partner Sparrow Club believes in leading through compassion! Their program pairs a family struggling with a childhood medical issue with a middle or high school class that adopts and unlocks funds for them through community service. We are a proud sponsor of the 21-22 school year and upcoming 22-23 school year.
Home Plate in Partnership with HBF
Donation: $16,000 of fencing & 32 volunteer hours
Home Plate provides drop in services and so much more to youths experiencing homelessness and their new facility in Beaverton is set to help even more young people in our communities. We were honored to donate the fencing for this new facility, opened in October 2022!
Portland Rescue Mission – Own the Day
Donation: $3,400 & 16 volunteer hours
A team from Rick’s joined the angels at Portland Rescue Mission that provide daily meals, services, and smiles to the vulnerable population of homeless in Portland. We contributed $3,400 which covers a day of meals and services across their locations.
Impact NW – Impact Kits
Donation: $5,000 + $4,500 in fencing + 76 hours volunteered
For the 3rd year, Rick’s ran their Impact Drive on behalf of Impact NW. We collected donated items from our employees, customers, and the community, of household and food items to be turned into Impact Kits to help the families supported by Impact NW. We created almost 100 kits this year, built some needed fencing for their Dancing Tree facility, and provided almost 80 volunteer hours.
Maurice Lucas Foundation – Annual Golf Fundraiser
Community Action – Fencing Project
Donation: $6,616 of donated fencing + 24 volunteer hours
In 2021, we partnered with Community Action of Washington County to hold a Book Drive and donated funds. This year, they identified a much-needed fencing upgrade at one of their Hillsboro properties. We donated the fencing and labor to get this done in continuing with our partnership to support Community Action’s mission.
Second Harvest – After School Program and Food Sorting Nights
Dontaion: $2,400 + 75 volunteer hours
In continuing our partnership with Second Harvest, beyond our normal twice-yearly volunteer get togethers, we have now joined a program they have to give students with food insecurities take home weekend meals. We deliver meals every two weeks that can be discreetly distributed to students in need.
Home Builders Foundation – Trap Shoot Fundraiser
Rick’s has partnered with the Home Builder’s Foundation on several projects now. We believe in their mission of supporting those fighting homelessness in the Portland area by connecting builders and community organizations in need. Their annual Trap Shoot is a fun fundraiser that we have supported for the last two years.
Make-A-Wish Annual Backyard Wish
Donation: $10,700 in fencing + 45 volunteer hours
We are so excited to continue our partnership with Make-A-Wish in granting at least one Backyard Wish a year. These projects have been incredibly impactful for the employees involved and the families that benefit. Stay tuned for video, photos, and more projects!

Special Community Support Drive Feature: The Deck That Love Built
In August 2021, Rick’s participated in our second project in partnership with Make-A-Wish, to give a 6-year-old and her family an amazing and safe outdoor space.
This project could not have happened without the support of our vendors, United Way, and our amazing employees who literally put the love and work in to building this deck and cover.
