“It was really important to me that it wasn’t just ‘we are going to hand you this money, we are going to take a picture of you with this check, and then we are going to go away.’ That wasn’t what we were trying to start with this Community Drive. I wanted to make sure our donations had a lasting impact because we want to say ‘this is what we did, and this is why we did it, and here’s how we’re backing this up with actions.’”
— Taylor Pawley, Rick’s Fencing and Decking Marketing Coordinator and Rick’s Community Support Drive Organizer

Meet our Partners:
Impact NW’s mission is to prevent homelessness by partnering with people as they navigate their journey to stability and opportunity. Since the COVID-19 crisis began, all Impact NW services have been creatively transitioned to ensure all families are served remotely including phone check-ins, consistent and culturally-specific food boxes, providing seniors with safe transportation, and more. Consider how you may also be able to help contribute essential items directly to the organization.
“The generous donation from Rick’s Custom Fencing is transformative for programs like ours. During COVID, many resources that assist with items for move-ins have been impacted and or limited. We have programs where they simply don’t have funding for essential items. The amazing kits and donation will help many families have the items they need to be healthy, safe, and thrive.”
– RJ Stangland, Assistant Director Housing and Safety Net Department, Impact NW
Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. When a wish comes true, it creates strength, hope and transformation in a child – and a community. A wish renews hope, uplifts spirits and encourages the belief in the impossible.
Each year, Portland Rescue Mission provides 330,000 hot nutritious meals, 75,000 nights of safe shelter, 780,000 pounds of clothing food, and toiletries, and 1,000 low cost vehicles to the vulnerable populations of Portland and beyond.
The Maurice Lucas Foundation is named after Maurice Lucas, a former Portland Trail Blazer and 1977 NBA champion. In memory of his late father, David Lucas now heads this foundation whose goal is to promote resilience, mentorships, and education resources for students across Portland Public Schools. At this time, they are working to help students and their parents navigate the needs of at home learning with tutoring, and academic and emotional support.
“We can’t thank Taylor, Rick, and Rick’s Custom Fencing enough for the support and outreach they have offered us over this year! The reach they gave our message is priceless and the funds to support our work will make the difference for the program today and in the future, but most important, it will make a huge difference for the youth and families we serve, especially those who are struggling during this crazy time.”
– Jana Cole, Development Director, Maurice Lucas Foundation
The Three Rivers Community Foundation (3RCF) announced an emergency fund to support nonprofit organizations in Benton and Franklin, Washington counties whose programs and services have been impacted by the current crisis. The emergency fund will support urgent and immediate needs for nonprofits that provide critical community services now and in the future.
“We are so grateful that 3RCF connected us with Rebuilding Mid-Columbia for our donation and ongoing help. 3RCF is continuing to accept grant donations and provide non-profits in Tri-Cities with relief through this program.”
Rebuilding Mid-Columbia improves the quality of life for low-income homeowners in the Tri-Cities, WA by offering housing repair at no cost; preserving affordable housing, allowing the elderly to age in place, and keeping families in their homes.
“The donation from Rick’s Fencing will help us to retain our staff and be in a position to fully open our doors to help families in need once the coronavirus restrictions have been lifted. Our Board members and volunteers anxiously look forward to the time we can gather together again and work on projects that have been postponed due to the virus, and this donation will help us relaunch these efforts. Without local support like that of Rick’s, we would be unable to continue to help families in need that oftentimes have no other place to turn.”
– Crystal, Rebuilding Mid-Columbia Staff
The The Portland Peninsula Optimists Club supports local youth-focused organizations and community outreach in the Portland area. As an organization, they sprang into action to help local businesses during the Covid-19 lockdown by purchasing almost $10,000 worth of gift cards, and by donating an additional $10,000 to the Sunshine Foundation. Now we have a chance to rally as a community and help their organization in return. Keep up the great work POC!
