Rick’s Custom Fencing & Decking 2025 Community Support Year in Review

At Rick’s Custom Fencing & Decking, supporting our communities is central to who we are. As a locally owned fencing and decking contractor serving families across Oregon and Southwest Washington, we believe strong neighborhoods build strong homes. Each year, we feel incredibly grateful for the people, partnerships, and causes that allow us to give back in meaningful ways.

In 2025, we had the privilege of supporting students and teachers, collaborating on meaningful build projects, contributing to local and national communities, and receiving the help we needed to make all of our work possible.

Here are some of our proud accomplishments, along with a few more details about the incredible organizations making a positive impact.

Community support for families, students, and educators

Our Holiday Toy Drive brought joy to local families

Through our Holiday Toy Drive, we partnered with local charities to help bring joy to families during the holiday season. Thanks to the generosity of our customers, team members, and local partners, we collected toys for children who might otherwise go without, helping more families experience the magic and excitement of the holidays.

Each year, this drive is a powerful reminder of what can happen when communities come together with a shared purpose to give.

Helping Portland students through the KGW School Supply Drive

Since 1999, Schoolhouse Supplies has been providing free school supplies to children in the Portland area. During the KGW School Supply Drive, we contributed donations to help at least 15,000 local students and teachers receive the supplies they need.

Giving back to Portland teachers through the Thanks a Million campaign

Schoolhouse Supplies works to equip students and teachers with the tools they need to succeed by operating a free store for teachers and providing classroom materials to under-resourced schools. Through our Thanks a Million campaign, we supported their mission by donating to restock shelves with supplies educators can access at no cost.

Cheering on West Linn High School’s Portland to Coast Relay team

We were proud to support West Linn High School’s “No Running in the Halls” team as they trained for and competed in the Portland to Coast Relay. This educator-led team set out with the meaningful goal of encouraging young people to embrace healthy competition, teamwork, and goal-setting.

Swinging for a cause: Local golf tournaments

Our Salem team put down their tools and picked up their clubs for the Wilsonville Chamber’s annual golf tournament. The event raised thousands of dollars for the Wilsonville Chamber’s Workforce Scholarship Program, helping local students pursue career and technical education opportunities.

We were also proud to support the 21st Annual Maurice Lucas Celebrity Golf Invitational in Aloha, an event that carries forward the legacy of Portland Trail Blazers legend Maurice Lucas. Proceeds from the tournament fund youth programs, scholarships, and mentorship opportunities that empower young people with leadership skills, educational support, and guidance that extends far beyond the basketball court.

Giving back through community build projects

Creating an outdoor sanctuary for Rex

In partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Oregon and generous community suppliers, we helped create a safe, accessible outdoor sanctuary for Rex, a Vancouver teen facing medical challenges.

With heavy hearts, we share that Rex has passed away. We are deeply grateful that together with his family and our friends at Make-A-Wish, we were able to create a joyful space that will continue to hold his memory and the love of all who gather there.

Rebuilding a safe space with Michelle’s Love

Rick’s was proud to again partner with Michelle’s Love, an organization that supports single parents facing cancer by providing financial assistance to help cover everyday expenses while they undergo treatment. Michelle’s Love teamed up with us to rebuild a local mother’s fence, giving her family a safer, more secure space to call home.

Offering stability with WeShine’s micro-village communities

WeShine creates safe, managed micro-village communities for people transitioning out of homelessness, providing shelter, stability, and access to support services. The Home Building Foundation connected Rick’s with WeShine, and we helped them build their largest collaborative build to date.

Community partnerships and charitable initiatives

Advancing hope with the American Cancer Society

The American Cancer Society works to improve the lives of people facing cancer through research, patient support programs, advocacy, and prevention efforts. Through our donation-matching initiative, Rick’s and generous community donors contributed to funding the organization’s groundbreaking research, patient lodging and transportation, and critical resources for families navigating a diagnosis.

Sponsoring the Walk/Run for the Animals with the SW Washington Humane Society

The Southwest Washington Humane Society hosts its annual Walk/Run for the Animals to raise critical funds for shelter operations, veterinary care, and adoption services for pets in need. Rick’s sponsored this high-energy community event, which brings together animal lovers, families, and local businesses to celebrate the important role pet companions play in our lives while directly supporting lifesaving programs.

Hosting our 3rd annual Great American Flag Swap in Tri-Cities

Rick’s Tri-Cities team proudly hosted its 3rd Great American Flag Swap, which brought neighbors together to properly retire worn American flags and replace them with new ones, honoring a meaningful tradition with respect and care. The event provided a simple but powerful way for community members to participate in preserving patriotic customs with the assurance that flags were handled and disposed of appropriately.

Thank you for helping us give back in 2025

None of this would have been possible without our team members, partners, customers, and the communities that continue to support Rick’s Custom Fencing & Decking. Your generosity, participation, and encouragement allowed us to keep saying yes to opportunities that make a meaningful difference throughout 2025.

As we look ahead to 2026, we look forward to continuing our work across Oregon and Southwest Washington — building fences and decks, strengthening neighborhoods, and investing in the people and organizations that make our communities thrive. Thank you for being part of a year built on giving back.
