Oregon’s 2026–2027 Winter Forecast: Stay Outside Longer with a Patio Cover from Rick’s

A warmer winter may be ahead for Portland, but rain is still part of the forecast. Make the most of your outdoor living space with a custom patio cover from Rick’s Custom Fencing & Decking!

Our friends at KGW are keeping Portland homeowners informed as winter approaches. According to KGW meteorologist Rod Hill’s 2026–2027 Winter Forecast, the Portland area could experience warmer-than-normal temperatures from November through March. But warmer weather doesn’t necessarily mean a drier winter.

Hill’s outlook suggests December and January could bring significant rainfall, with the potential for a particularly wet winter overall. While snowfall is expected to be limited, one substantial snow event of six inches or more remains possible.

For Oregon homeowners, the forecast is a timely reminder to prepare outdoor spaces for the months ahead. Whether you’re enjoying a break in the rain or watching the changing conditions from the KGW Weather Deck, winter in the Pacific Northwest is all about making the most of your outdoor living spaces, rain or shine.

Why let the rain keep you indoors when you can enjoy your patio in more weather conditions?

In the Pacific Northwest, outdoor living doesn’t have to end when summer does. With a well-designed patio cover, you can enjoy your backyard, entertain guests, and relax outside even when the weather isn’t cooperating.

A patio cover from Rick’s Custom Fencing & Decking can help you make better use of your outdoor space by providing shelter from the rain and creating a more comfortable setting for everyday living.

Imagine enjoying your morning coffee outdoors, hosting friends for a covered dinner, or simply relaxing in the fresh Oregon air without worrying about every passing shower.

A covered patio can help make those moments possible throughout more of the year.

Why Consider a Patio Cover This Winter?

• Enjoy more outdoor time: Make your patio more usable during Oregon’s rainy season.
• Create a year-round gathering space: Give family and friends a sheltered place to gather, even when the weather changes.
• Protect your outdoor furnishings: A properly designed cover can help shield patio furniture and other items from direct exposure to rain.
• Enhance your home’s outdoor living area: Add an attractive, functional feature that complements your home and backyard.
• Make your backyard work harder for you: Get more value from the outdoor space you already have.

Whether you’re envisioning a comfortable place to unwind or a covered entertaining area, Rick’s can help you explore patio cover options suited to your home and lifestyle.
